David Lawrence Lackey, age72, of Lake Odessa passed away on October 23rd, 2019 at Spectrum Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan.
He was born on May 30th, 1947 to Lawrence and Phyllis (Scheidt) Lackey in Lansing, Michigan.
He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1965.
David worked as a projectionist at the Lake Theatre in Lake Odessa in the 70’s. It was a job he loved to do since movies were a passion of his. He also was employed by Keeler Brass as a night watchman for number of years. Then he decided to try a new adventure and open “Dave’s Sports Cards.”
David loved collecting sport cards and wanted to share his joy of Cards and sport paraphernalia with people of all ages.
He was first located down at Tupper Lake Street and later moved to 1003 4th Ave in Lake Odessa in a building that was originally constructed by his Great Grandfather James Scheidt. David’s grandmother Bernice Scheidt ran her business (Scheidt’s Restaurant) from the same location from 1960 to 1971. David in the 80’s become a 4th generation businessman in Lake Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his parents. David is survived by his sister Noreen (Lackey) Steward, niece Heather England, nephew Brian (Raz) Steward, great nieces Addie and Emme Steward, Brooke and Britny England. As well as aunts & uncles and many cousins and dear friends. David loved them all.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on November 2, 2019, at 11am Lake Odessa Museum, 1117 Emerson St., Lake Odessa, MI 48849
