Kenneth B. Phillips, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2017 at Spectrum Health’s Butterworth Campus.
Kenny was born July 28, 1961 in Ionia, MI. Kenny spent many hours talking about his beautiful, intelligent daughter and how he wished he lived closer. He loved sci-fi shows especially Star Trek and Godzilla. Kenny was an avid baseball card collector. He spent many years working as a crossing guard and enjoyed picking on the kids. Many years he would be found greeting people as they attended the Lake Odessa Fair. War games were high on his list of things to do. The Civil War reenactments at Charlton Park were especially fun for him. Kenny loved spending time with his nieces and nephews including Michelle “Rugrat”, Spring “Squirt”, Michael, Vickita, Jamie, Alex, Billy, Charlie, Journei, Bradley Paul, Jimmy, Tony, Jada, Sammy and Jenna.
He was preceded in death by his father Ballard Phillips and his grandparents Charlie and Ida Phililips and Verlin and Dorothy Fisher.
He leaves behind his mother Sharon (Ed) Grawburg, his daughter Keegan Ranger of Tampa, FL, siblings Diane Brochue of Sturgis, Bradley (Elanor) Phillips, of Tomkinsville, KY, Donna Fletcher of Grand Rapids, Thomas ( Jeanne) Grawburg of Portland along with many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and great nephews.
A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held at the Jackson-Mutchler VFW Post 4461 on November 18, 2017 from 1pm until 3pm. Memorial contributions to the family to help with final expenses would be appreciated. Online condolences can be left at www.koopsfc.com
