Marjory L. McDowell, 88, of Lake Odessa, went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 1, 2018 at the Hope Hospice Home in Lehigh Acres, FL. She was born on June 15, 1930 to Clyde and Alice (Preston) Jackson in Clarksville, MI., and grew up in the Lake Odessa area. On June 15th, 1952 (her birthday), she married Donald J. McDowell, and shared the next 58 years together as husband and wife. She will be dearly missed by her 3 children and 5 grandchildren: Stephen M. (Christine) McDowell (Katie and Darrin) of Lehigh Acres, Fl., John P. (Karen) McDowell (Ryan and Matthew) of South Lyon, Mi., and Molly A. (Mark) Pomianowski (James Fenlon) of Dunedin, Fl. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-laws Wayne and Loretta Jackson, Harold Jackson, Rick and Trudy Jackson, sister Virginia and Jim McArthur, Dolores (Ken) McDowell, Lyle (Trudy) Dickinson, many nieces, nephews and many dearly cherished friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Alice Jackson, spouse Donald McDowell, brothers-in-law Kenneth R. and John A. McDowell, sisters-in-law Jean Jackson, Lois Jackson, Marion McDowell, nephew Ford McDowell and great-nephew Matthew Brewer. Marjory received her teaching degree from Western Michigan University and taught at many Elementary, Jr. High and High schools in Southeastern Lower Michigan, primarily in the Crestwood School district, Dearborn Heights, as a Junior High Science teacher. She obtained her Masters degree in Library Science from Eastern Michigan University and retired as high school librarian. She was also a full time mom and homemaker, and we are all amazed at the way she was able to balance her work load and home life the way she did. She brought much joy and happiness to all who knew her, and her family and friends were the most important things in her life. A truly remarkable life indeed.
